A cozy homemade pumpkin spice latte made with espresso, pumpkin puree, warm milk, and pumpkin pie spice, sweetened with maple syrup and topped with frothy milk and optional whipped cream for a perfect autumn treat.

Ingredients

Latte Base

  • 2 shots espresso (or 1/2 cup hot freshly brewed coffee)
  • 1 cup milk of choice, preferably one that froths well (e.g., oat milk)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree (start with 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping

  • Whipped cream (optional but recommended)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Milk: Pour milk into a small pot and heat it over medium-low heat until hot and nearly simmering, being careful not to boil.
  2. Prepare the Espresso Mixture: Make your espresso and pour it into a large mug or mason jar. Add pumpkin puree, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract, stirring until well combined.
  3. Froth the Milk: Use a milk frother to froth the heated milk for about 30 seconds or until it becomes foamy.
  4. Combine and Serve: Pour the frothed milk into the mug over the pumpkin espresso mixture. Reserve some foam and spoon it on top.
  5. Add Toppings: Optionally, top with whipped cream and sprinkle a little extra pumpkin spice or cinnamon for garnish.

Notes

  • If you don’t have pumpkin pie spice, substitute with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/8 teaspoon ginger, and 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves or allspice.
  • Use oat milk or another froth-friendly milk to achieve the best foam.
  • Adjust the sweetness with maple syrup to your taste preference.
  • For a stronger pumpkin flavor, increase the pumpkin puree but avoid making the latte too thick.
  • Whipped cream topping is optional but adds a creamy richness and enhances presentation.
